It seems like it's been awhile since we've had a 24-Hour Love Fest. Possibly never. In any case, the thing that's best (for me, at the moment) of having a show with a 7-year history is that there are so many versions of Sam and Dean to love, and the thing that is best about being in a fandom with so many versions of Sam and Dean to love is that there are so many different ways y'all find of loving them.

Some nonnies love Sam. Some nonnies love Dean. Some nonnies love Dean & Sam. Some nonnies love them apart and some nonnies love them together. Some nonnies even love Dean/Sam *together* together. And some nonnies love other characters who touch themselves while thinking of Sam and Dean. Or Sam/Dean. Some nonnies love ALL THE SAMS AND DEANS.

We love them with fic, and we love them with meta. We love them with squee and groans. We love them with art or vids or differential equations.

So, it seems like it might be a grand time to have a thread to talk about how much we love Sam & Dean.

How is Cas treated by these writers in their fics? I don't like Wincest fic that ignores his existence or mis-characterises him in order to ~remind Dean that his brother is the love of his life.

Would anyone be willing to provide gen Sam and Dean-centric recs? I don't sift through them as much as I do other things, so I know I've missed a lot. I'm willing to read a whole lot of genres, but I especially like serious crack. Like, that one wing!fic where there's gore and they call in a bird expert. Case fic is cool too. As are creature/robot/whatever AUs (I just would like to avoid bashing of other characters).

God, I'm trying to articulate how I love Sam, but it's all a blur of excitement thanks to your opening. I love how he can be so understated around those glorious moments of emotional bursts, I love how he always tries to do the right thing, I love that (I just rewatched some older episodes) that he only has to deal with the demon blood as part of his past and now can try to find himself again.

I would like some Sam/Dean PWP recs. Just smoking hot PWPs, preferably canon-based and not pre-series, with the porn front and center. I have a preference for bottom!Sam but that's incidental, I will try anything because I've discovered various kinks that way.

I'm watching season 2 right now, and I'm loving how their arcs are progressing so naturally, and how Dean is so achingly tired and heartsore and ferociously protective of Sam, and how Sam is so afraid of his potential future but determined to find out what's going on and, goddammit, if he's going to go down, he's going to save as many people as he can before he does... they're so, so brave in the face of it all &hearts.

The thing that made me love Dean (and Sam and the show) is Dean's obvious and blatant love for Sam. I was fascinated that this guy was so obsessed with his giant brother and how crazily protective and fiercely 'in love' he was.

I've been a long-time fan of 'buddy shows' and I came across SPN thinking I'd enjoy it for that. Dean's outright adoration was right there on the screen and I was hooked. It also made me turn to the web and look for S/D slash. It was too easy for me to ship them after watching their love story right on my TV every week.

There's a vid by that I love (it was by gigglemonster on LJ, but it's no longer be available online). It uses the song "The Scars of All I'll Ever Know". It's montages of S1-S3 and tells the story of Dean wanting Sam and Sam being resistant cause he's in love with Jess.
