For longfics I mostly read J2 and Sam/Dean, rarely like pairings involving Castiel, but loved the Mary/Ellen second-person POV one from last year (Deep Breaths by trollprincess).

It was up for me briefly last night and this morning but now is completely down. Is it up for anyone else? This is so frustrating and apparently is just LJ fucking up, not DDoS attacks or anything this time around.

I'm curious about how this will affect Blindfold. Obviously no-one can post or read but it's giving people an extended time to write. How long will they keep extending?

I've been able to get to it for a while now, but no one is talking. The newsletter was rather embarrassingly short for a fandom that is usually insanely active.

I like the suggestion of Michael for Dean, and Eric for Sam. Edward has been my head-canon middle name for John, IDK for Mary and Bobby.

I got it, and I did the survey, too. It wasn't all that intrusive (mostly stuff about whether you just read blindfold, or write for it too, and if you claim the stuff you write there), and it didn't require providing your name or LJ handle.

I'm one of the chart-making science nonnies and I love data, so I am happy to help someone with their ACTUAL SCIENCE.

Sam and Dean get themselves admitted to a mental hospital in order to investigate if a monster is attacking patients. But their incarceration pushes them to the breaking point.

Three teenagers decide to collect on the bounty on Dean's head, placed by Lucifer, by one of them switching bodies with Sam. While Sam has to deal with domineering parents and high school, Dean discovers that "Sam" has a new enthusiasm for the monster-hunting profession.

I know a lot of people have their access to LJ back. I am not one of them.

SUP company announced that the reason of technical downtime in blog hosting operation of LiveJournal was new DDoS-attack, the company reports.

“Even reserve console was out of order, that would help us understand what is going wrong with the network equipment, therefore the only source of information for us and other clients were providers. Later on DDoS Mitigation Protocol was set and launched, by results of which we saw that incoming traffic amounted to 6 Gb with 8 Gb peaks, which is, obviously, the upper limit for Qwest and Verizon,” said Ilya Dronov, LiveJournal Promotion Director, adding that the peak for incoming traffic for previous attacks stood at 2 Gb.

Earlier SUP representatives refuted attack version, explaining downtime in blog hosting by problems in data centers, where LiveJournal servers are located.

Responsibility for technical bug was laid upon U.S. communication operators Qwest and Verizon, Lenta.ru reports.

I haven't really come across any spoiler-free info from the spn panel at comic-con. Maybe it's just because I am avoiding spoilers for S7, but I'm curious how the panel went, how the audience was, how the writers seemed and I don't recall seeing any threads about it that weren't about spoilers.

If you have any spoiler-free comic-con info please feel free to share! I'm sure I'm not the only one interested about comic-con, but fearful of the spoileries that are lurking everywhere.

It was a really fun panel! There were many Mishalecki and J2 moments if that's your sort of thing, Misha admitted to being the anti-Christ, and Mark Sheppard wants to do a spin-off called "Oh Crowley." The audience was really enthusiastic, and the questions were about as embarrassing and stupid as the questions at these sorts of things usually are.

I don't know that it was a very spoilery panel, so depending on your level of spoiler-phobia, you could probably watch without anything huge being given away. Sera declined to answer the big questions about Castiel/Misha, and otherwise, there were some casting spoilers, but not much else, as far as I recall. Oh, maybe some pretty non-specific spoilers from Jared and Misha- they're not huge to me, but I don't mind spoilers, so ymmv.

S6's Unforgiven

What is the one thing from S6 that you cannot forgive? I'm not talking plots, storylines, or character developments. I'm talking about the tiny little things about S6 that really get under your skin.

For me it's the playing of Beautiful Loser in the 6.01 opener. That song on Supernatural. Chilled my blood. Musically, to me, it was everything that Supernatural was not. (Of course at that stage, I did not know that the worst was yet to come...)

So I was just noticing how often, in my dialogue and in a lot of the dialogue I read, characters call each other by name. "I don't know, Bobby, it just looked like some giant snake thing." "Get your ass out of bed, Sam." "Just a minute, Dean, I'm busy lusting after your freckles."

But when I think about it, I'm not sure I say people's names very often when I talk to them. I might say "Mom!" if I'm exasperated, or if I'm trying to get her attention to start a conversation, but I don't say "Looks like the cat threw up on the sofa again, Mom." The only time I regularly incorporate "Mom" into a conversation is if I'm talking to more than one person at once but addressing a remark particularly to her.

Am I weird? Am I imagining things? How often do people talking to each other actually use names?

These are the things I start thinking about when LJ is down.

I hardly ever say names. Ever. Which really works out for me when I can't remember them! =D

Dean and Sam, however, have a habit of saying each other's names a lot so it's not so surprising that that characteristic transferred over into your writing.

Sometimes, I even look at my own dialogue and realize that Sam would get in a lot more "Dean!"s than I'm giving him.

What are your favorite or least favorite things about DW?

I'll go first!

YAY:
- It works
- The circles/subscriptions instead of calling everyone "friends"
- Expandable cut tags WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL OF MY LIFE?
- I don't see any mention of being able to sign in with Twitter, or Facebook, or anything other than generic OpenID accounts, so that's a plus!

NAY:
- Compared to LJ on days it decides to work, there is little activity over here. My main fandom is SPN and there's maybe 2 active comms.
- The default site scheme. What is wrong with black text on a white background, I ask.
- No scrapbook. I am surprisingly bereft without it.
- The layouts are a little, um... yeah. LJ's first layouts were no bright shiny beacons of web design or anything, but come on. This is 2011.
- I love that they're trying so hard for accessibility, but the fonts are SO BIG. Ugh.

I think that's about it for now. Overall, I do like it here, but I don't see fandom moving unless LJ is down for like a month or more. Still, I miss the pretty layouts and icons.
