I'm so tired of reading comments to the effect of "I can't wrap my head around why people would want to DDOS attack LJ. Seriously, guys, you're just mostly frustating fangirls".

Actually, I'm quite sure hackers care very little for fandom on LJ. No really, it's not All About You.

No shit. If it is really the russian gvt, I kind if pity the ones in charge of SUP, I mean how are they supposed to counter that?

It's pretty interesting, it basically says that the goal was to take down LJ as a platform for discussion, because it is hugely successful. Also chaotic, wanky, unpredictable, and democratic. The qualities that make it such a welcoming place for fandom also make it an ideal place for political debate in a place with very little freedom of speech.
