Access: People who can read your flocked posts.
Subscription: People whose posts appear on your reading page (flist).

I don't know where you're getting the 25 subscription thing. You can also "subscribe" to feeds. Maybe there's a limit on that?

Thank you for being so helpful, nonnie!

It's on the Notifications page:

You don't have any subscriptions
Track entries, comments, and account updates by clicking the (bell) icon or the "Track This" link that appears on entries, comments, and the Profile page.
You are using 6 out of 25 active subscriptions.

I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT MEANS. MAYBE NOTHING.

Maybe it's the number of comms I can subscribe to?

da. In that context, subscription = tracking, I think.

na As far as I can understand it, these seem to refer to the number of notifications one has enabled, like "notify me when someone replies to an entry I made", "notify me when someone replies to a comment I made", etc. I'm not positive though. Check the number of boxes you have ticked on that notifications page, minus the number journals and entries you're tracking (if you are tracking any).

I'm reasonably sure it doesn't refer to the number of comms.

I didn't actually have anything flagged for tracking yet, though, and I did have six comms subscribed. So IDK.

da

Go to your profile and click on "Manage Account" (under "Organize" from the left side) and the click on the "Notifications" tab. This tells you how many things you have marked for notification("tracked" in LJ parlance). There are certain things that DW default notifies you for - which you can remove if you don't want them. That's where your 6 of 25 subscriptions is coming from. (the bottom of this tab tells you how many you have left)

Thank you, O wise nonnie!

That makes sense now.

Maybe you accidentally set up the comms as "send to inbox" or some other kind of tracking, instead of putting them on your reading list?
