This journal is a backup journal for spnanonhaven in case LJ becomes unavailable.

Thank you! I hate to say this, but that community is a little above my knowledge level. I don't want to create my own layout; I just want to stick a banner on top of a pre-existing layout.

They're really friendly there, and no question is too low level. However, I can explain it to you right now:

Go to http://www.dreamwidth.org/customize/options?group=images

Paste in the URL to your banner in the box named "header image".
Type in the height of your banner in pixels below. If you don't know, you can go to your image host and right click on the banner to see image properties, that will show you its dimensions.

Save.

If it does not appear, you may have chosen one of the few themes which don't support header images. If so, pick a different theme or ask the friendly people in dw_styles for tips on advanced customization.

Squee! Thank you so much! I think I might have to come up with a brand new eye-gouging bannner in celebration.

I should say that that has been my experience with *everyone* on DW. I really like it here. I just get embarrassed about asking questions in public. (I know I'm a grown woman and should not have this problem, but nonetheless.)

Yeah, I can understand that. In many places there seems to be this expectation that people are born magically knowing things, and you're scolded if you act like a newbie. That attitude kind of sucks.
