It's a serious problem in this fandom. It's normal to have characters you like and characters you don't like in a work of fiction. Some fangirls need to understand that Sam and Dean aren't your real life children, no one has to love them equally. You can have favorites.

Love is one thing but the hate Sam has gotten is sometimes kinda scary. Just because he's a fictional character and not out to molest your kids or something.

I kind of agree, I do not read known E*G fics coz their glorifying/bashing irks me.

Sam being fictional is why the extreme hate doesn't bother me. He's not real, he doesn't have feelings that can get hurt. Wishing the writers would kill off Sam isn't like wishing an actual person would die. Hating someone fictional is safe hate.
