I'm not too browser versed - update the default settings? From what I can see when I click around, it's set to standard/basic style. To me the font (and the page) looks like LJ's looks when it's set to ?format=light. Anyway, I've looked around your link some more and I think I'll just set the page to Celerity. It looks closest to non-customized page and has a nice clear font. :D

Sorry about that. Are you using Firefox? If you are, then you can click "Tools" on the menu toolbar, then click "Options". There should be a setting called "Fonts & Colors", "Default font", with a drop down menu. You can choose a nice font you like there. You can also go into advanced settings and choose whether your default font should override the website's own settings.
