I'm pretty sure Dean thinks he killed Castiel/stranded him in Purgatory with no other human to get a ride out on.

I'm still wondering why no other baddie approached Dean in Purgatory about making a sweet ride out deal. I'm sure a lot of them would have been willing to behave and put on a good show to get out of there. Was Benny really the only one that knew about it and if so how did he know?

Benny was probably the first to be shrewd enough and have the opportunity to approach Dean. After he and Dean made the deal, Dean would have no reason to befriend more monsters.

You would think if more than a couple of Purgatory residents knew, word would have gotten around. And it would have slipped out of one of those guys he was torturing before he stumbled into Benny. I sorta got the impression he had been there a decent enough length of time before coming across him.

Which makes me think only Benny knew. I just want to know how.

omg, yesssssss. Now that is a hot mess of a twist I could actually be down with and willing to apply convoluted fanwank to make it workable. What?! If we are zooming back to S1/S2, might as well!

I can sympathise with Dean because he is in a difficult place mentally. But I think Sam was right to not try getting him back. And similarly, Dean should not try getting Castiel out either.
