I'm exactly like this too, and for me, yeah, I think it's that she's not on SPN. I have SPN cast feels not just because I've seen them act in something, but because they're involved in this big, intricate thing that I'm embarrassingly invested in, you know?

And, okay, Genevieve's also more my type, so I have more fun picturing her naked. Teeny tiny women, rrowr. (On the other hand I ship her hardest with Adrianne. Women who are not my type at all but are so hot I don't care, rrowr.)

Gen is so gorgeous I can't even.

I just love her face. She has such amazing eyes and hair and strong features that are still very feminine and she doesn't look like your average CW starlet at all. Of all the ridiculously beautiful cast members there have been on SPN, her face is my favourite to look at out of the women.

-needed to get that creepy rant out of my system, sorry! She has one of those faces that makes me wish I could draw so I could appreciate it better.

I agree with all this. Yes. As you say, very strong, distinctive features. And those eyes! Plus her darker coloring and average size contrasts so deliciously with Jared's pale(r) hugeness. <3

The only other SPN actress who comes even close to giving me the same kinds of "YOUR RIDICULOUS FACE" feelings is Julie McNiven. That woman was born to play ethereal waif characters with supernatural strength. (She mentioned at VanCon that she usually gets pigeonholed to play, like, sweet little elementary school teachers, which is such a crying same.)

Julie is really beautiful. But her cast as Anna wasa disaster. Bad, bad, bad choice.

Sorry. I love Julie. I just disliked everything Anna and it was partially her fault (and partially the writers and showrunner,of course, for writing that piece of crap of storyline)

I have to agree with this. She is gorgeous and she was great as the crazy girl in the asylum, but she just didn't bring the kind of authority to her presence that Anna the angel needed.

Plus I think the character and her desire to be fully human and love life would have been conveyed far better by an actress who doesn't have "ethereal" written all over her. But she is super pretty and in a different part I might have loved her.

Even if Anna had been written more like Castiel, I think she would have played that lost, confused by humanity, struggling with stuff and not actually the boss of anyone angel role beautifully. But not so much the way Anna actually was.

Yes, all of this. I wish they had kept her as a girl who could listen to angel radio. I just couldn't buy her as a badass angel who was Castiel and Uriel's former boss. She didn't have the necessary presence next to them. The storyline was bad enough, the casting was the final nail to the character. I'm so glad they decided to ditch her in favour of Castiel. I would have hated having her in a more permanent role.

No? Mileage varies, I guess; I didn't have any trouble with her as the badass angel. And though I thought the worldbuilding behind her storyline was dumb - nothing we learn about angels in 4.10 matches anything else ever or even really makes sense on its own terms, IMO - I really enjoyed her characterization.

There's a lot that doesn't make sense to me about Anna - the ways she describes angels, for one. But I absolutely loved her relationship with Castiel, and would have been really interested to see that explored more. I liked her presence there - it wasn't huge and commanding - it was a different kind of power. And I liked how easily she could see right through him and how she refused to let him replace Heaven with her.

Plus, on a selfish note - I have a really hard time shipping people unless they interact a little, so I was really excited that I got a chance to ship two women (which doesn't happen a lot on the show!) Anna/Ruby forever holds a special place in my shipping heart.

True that. For all my other qualms about 4.10, I will forever love it for giving me a strategy-planning scene with more significant female characters (Anna, Ruby, Pamela) than male characters.

Different tastes, I guess. I wanted to like her. Julie is so pretty and likeable and she is a fan of the show. I actually liked her in some of her one on one scenes with Castiel. But in scenes like the one she got her grace back, I couldn't watch without cringing.

I agree that we didn't know much about the angels until 4.10 so her storyline wasn't going against the show's canon. But I hated the whole grace in a bottle thing. I also didn't like her whole "angels can't feel" spiel but I wrote that off as unreliable narrator, since it was obvious that angels did have emotions.
