Screw Kevin, we know he'll be back. I'm just terrified they'll do this with Meg. We haven't had any Meg spoilers to confirm she'll still play a role. D:

besides Dean and Sam, and to some extent Jody, the only character I care about rn is Meg. I want her in the show, she's my fav female character (of the ones that are left) and I'm mad they talked about Charlie or Garth (not a fan or either) but not about the demon when the myth arc is about demons and she had more connection to the plot and characters.

Fuck off. Gimme Meg, please!

You are preaching to the choir, nonnie. Meg is the real tie to the early seasons. She's the link to YED's mytharc, she's a connection to Alistair. She's got more connections to the various plots of the show than anyone else aside from Sam and Dean! She's one of the very few constants of the show - she played major roles in the S1-S2 plot arcs and in S5-S7. I just wish we knew what she'd been doing in S3 and S4.

I don't remember what they said about Charlie, though I'd take her over Garth any day. They seemed to try a bit too hard with her and I really dislike the "she's a perfect non-threat character!" descriptions they've had of her (UGH) but overall she seemed cute enough and I liked the reveal at the end that she had more going on than originally seemed. But I'd definitely prefer Meg. More Meg plz!

Usually I'd be chomping at the bit for Meg, but the way they handled her last season kinda left a bad taste in my mouth. But I'd love to see a more antagontistic Meg back with callbacks to her past with the Winchesters (and less glossing over it), please.

i actually think they could do a lot of interesting things from the way they handled her last season, and still be antagonistic.

Yeah, I want Meg being badass and solo. I don't want her hooking up with the Winchesters (or Castiel--I love both of them, but canon Meg/Castiel is just a major DNW for me). Or, if she does work with Sam and Dean, I want it to be very clear that she's working for her own purposes, not to help them.

I think it was clear she was working with S&D for her own interest.
About Cas, I like the ship and I think it could give some interesting layers to both characters, but I'm okay if they don't want to follow that path to avoid fan rage.

Agreed about Meg working with Sam and Dean solely for her own reasons. Her powerbase had been shattered and after Castiel and the Winchesters (and maybe even before the Winchesters), she was right at the top of Crowley's target list. Finding allies, any allies, was only prudent and the Winchesters have shown that they're capable of handling things that regular humans really shouldn't be able to deal with.

Cas/Meg, eh. I liked it as it was in S6 but really hated how it was portrayed for most of S7. I didn't like that he was so clingy with her AT ALL. Give me the dynamic they had in S6 or even in S5 during 5.10 and I can see the appeal. S7 just made me nauseated. Screw fan rage though.

Then you and I share thoughts on this.

I liked M/C better in Season 6. I guess the problem is that S7 Cas was a mess to beging with. But maybe if he comes back from Purgatory as a sane, useful person...angel, whatever he is now, they can give them some nice interaction.
Both have (or should have if the writers remeember what happened) some things in common that could give them a good role to play for this or future seasons.

And well, Cas needs some other character to interact with if he's gonna be part of the story. Sometimes it feels like he only interacts with Dean, and not even all that much.

the anon the anon above you replied to

I agree that she was working with the Winchesters for her own reasons before. I'd just rather that those reasons be explored more, you know? Like, does Meg want to raise Lucifer again? Does she want to become queen of Hell herself? I feel like she needs a full storyline, rather than just being another tool for the Winchesters.

Meg/Cas just squicks me out. I'm mostly a gen girl when it comes to canon anyway (I liked Dean/Lisa, but the ship for that has long since sailed) and I just can't see Meg and Cas together. Like I said, I like solo!Meg. I don't think she really cares about anyone other than how they can work to her purposes. And clingy!Cas just felt wrong. I can't really see him in a relationship. IDK.

While I like Meg/Cas, and I'd love to see some interaction, I hope they don't get to have sex, implied or not.
A kiss is fine, but I can't get over the hard fact of those bodies not being theirs to use (and I still hope for Jimmy Novak to come back one day), but I'm afraid the writers forget about that from time to time and that'd be kin of squicky for me.

See, this almost makes me want them to have sex only because then we have a chance of having it established one way or the other if Jimmy is still around. I really don't think he is (I don't see any reason why anyone would be so cruel as to resurrect him twice, especially not since Cas didn't use the vessel for a year before S6 - what would Jimmy have been doing then?) and would love to get final confirmation on it.

Ah yeah, well, I find it weird that Cas is still walking around wearing Jimmy's face with all the weird stuff he's done on Earth, if it's not Jimmy's body. I understand there's probably no other reason than they want Cas to be Misha, but it makes me so unconfortable.

But as I said above, I want Jimmy back, not to see his while the show is still running (or while Cas storyline is still played), but as a happy ending to that man and his family.

Still shipping Meg/Cas in a not-very-sexual way.

Why not use the same one? It works for him and angels seem like they get attached to their vessels, given that Anna called in a favor to get her human body back after it was exploded and Uriel seemed to be using the same vessel in 1973 and 2008.

I would love a happy ending for Jimmy too, I just don't see how it could ever be a happy one if he's been stuck as Cas' vessel for the past several years and Cas has been tortured during that time and exploded as well. D:

We could have the best of both worlds, perhaps, and say that Castiel's current vessel is a clone of Jimmy's body? Maybe God was merciful (he seemed to be in a giving mood in 5.01 with Cas anyway) and just resurrected Cas and Jimmy separately, so Jimmy got to go home while Cas kept his (unoccupied) vessel.

I still find it a bit weird, that's Jimmy's face no matter what, and Castiel uses it while doing...Castiel things.
But if that gives Jimmy's family a chance to have him back, I'd take it.

I know what you mean, but it puts it in a different view for me. Jimmy doesn't have to be involved at all and he gets to go back to his family. There's a number of not!characters running around now and again, Castiel having a Jimmy suit he can wear is the best alternative for Jimmy himself. And any face Cas wore would belong to someone else first unless he fell and was reborn as a human. I don't see the show ever giving us toddler!Cas though.

Re: Ben Edlund interview--confirms our fears

(Anonymous) 2012-07-18 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yes, I understand. I just think there's people without a little sister and a wife out there.

But I doubt Cstiel cares. I mean, he's an angel after all. He may be a bit more sympathetic toward humans than other angels, but I doubt he sees things as a person would. Jimmy is a tiny dot in time, just one human.

But I think I somehow got attached to Jimmy, and feel bad for him.

I doubt the show will ever address these issues, btw. I'm just rambling.

LOL Toddler!Cas would be hilarious but the last thing I'd want in SPN. We have enough non-sense and I still hope they're not turning it into a sit-com...

I don't think Castiel gives much thought to the Novaks, no. But then, Sam and Dean don't seem to either. Neither of them has expressed the slightest hint of concern over Jimmy, not when the vessel was severely damaged or even when Dean tried to get Cas laid. At this point, I'm not sure if the writers themselves remember that "the vessel" once had a name and a personality and was his own person. :/

I feel you, nonnie! I'm that way with Adam. :D Feel free to ramble at me! Even if the show won't ever go there, it can help to get these ~feelings out sometimes.

Ha! TBH, if one of them were to be de-aged, my preference would be for wee!Dean. Dean remembers Sam as a kid, but I don't think Sam really remembers Dean as a child too well. Sam stuck with wee!Dean, I'd love to see that! I doubt it'll ever happen though. I wouldn't mind Castiel's end game as him being reborn as a human, but I doubt they'd go there until the end of the show.

Guess I'll go complain that my twin is using my face while doing... other twin things.

Yes, I guess your POV as a twin might be different.
But it's not exactly the same to havea twin sibling than having a random...being walking around with your face.
I don't know, but I bet most people wouldn't like seeing if someone was wearing their father's face, even if their father is dead.

Well most people are shallow. But a person is more than their appearance.

I don't guess you've ever considered donating your organs or body to science?

Though I guess you could say it's still not the same as having a random... being walking around with them. :P

By the way, I do think your opinion is perfectly valid, even if I disagree with and don't quite get it.

I don't mind their interactions in a gennish way. But there's something about them together that just squicks me out, and I don't know what. Like I said above, I think it's mostly just because I don't see Meg as being anything but working for her own ends, and the idea of her actually caring for someone just doesn't work. And Castiel, in my mind, isn't sexual in canon (I see their kiss as more curiosity than anything).

The vessels definitely do add another layer of squick to it, though.
