Not to mention that for the flashbacks they've said that they are doing them in a much more extensive and fundamental way than they've done before -- Carver has said that they are doing a new structure. They may not pull it off, but worry about whether show will do what it says its going to do well is different from worry about the content we've been explicitly informed show is treating.

Especially since Sam's story is getting told in flashbacks too, so it's not like this is something that's specifically a concern for Dean.
