Aside from people taking the piss out of me, you have to admit there's lots of really serious complaining going on around here. It's all very dramatic, and people are "legit crying" and leaving Show forever - and it's a tad overdone for what are rather vague spolers. But hey, at least people are getting some giggles poking fun at me. It is supposed to be fun, right?

IDK, the Sam spoilers are pretty specific, and those are the ones most people are upset about, not the Sam and Dean have baggage and other relationships and aren't all in all to each other.

The Sam stuff may yet turn out to be misleading, of course, but it's not one of those could mean anything situations.

Yeah, I'm trying to keep hope that it's just Jared again being shitty at expressing the nuance of situations going on and not an accurate description, because the way he (and I think it's mostly just been his words) has described it is not only ruining my excitement for the new season, but kind of infecting everything I feel towards the past 7 seasons as well. D:

Jared is NEVER a reliable source and has a tendency to describe things in the worst light. We know this. Just look at his completely off perspective on Cas and Sam. Why take his word for gospel this time.

Actually, I do agree with Jared in regards to Cas and Sam. Cas and Sam aren't really friends IMO. Cas is Dean's friend and only Dean's friend. He only helps Sam because of Dean. That's it.

What Jared said their interactions were going to be was directly contradicted by what their interactions were on screen. I do agree that Cas tends to see people in relation to Dean, though I think his and Sam's relationship has taken on a life of its own in s6 and s7, but he certainly showed no sign in 7.17 of resenting Sam for the apocalypse, and Sam was not wary as Jared suggested, but eager to help and communicate in 7.21.

IIRC, he also suggested that Sam was going to be unforgiving in 7.1, which, not so much.

I like to think that on those occasions he is not trolling fandom but pranking Misha.

I don't really agree. Sam and Cas don't really have a friendship. Anything that Castiel does for Sam is only in service of Dean because Cas is directly Dean's friend. Also, if Cas was really Sam's friend, he would;t have broken his wall in the first place. That's not friendship. Cas used Sam as a pawn for his own agenda.

Or you show me the lines in 7.17 where Cas resented Sam for the apocalypse, or the bit in 7.1 where Sam didn't reach out to Cas.

Wasn't it someone other than Jared (Ben or Jensen?) who said that Dean would be upset at the reunion that Sam hadn't looked for him? That seems to confirm that at least as far as Sam tells Dean, he really didn't try to find him. I'm having to fall back on Sam lying to Dean for some reason to be revealed, but if that's the case I don't think Jared knows (which doesn't mean it can't be true; Jared didn't seem to know about soullessness this time of year before s6 and gave some ultimately misleading reads of Sam's behaviour).

No, it was Edlund who mentioned that Dean would "resent" the fact that Sam didn't try to get him out, and said that Dean thought they had an agreement to at least try and save each other, even if they weren't supposed to

That's what I said? Well, that it was Ben (Edlund) or Jensen.

So, yeah. Ben was still speaking from Dean's POV, so there could be stuff going on beyond how Dean perceives it and what Sam tells him, but there's nothing to confirm that notion except desperate hope.

The Sam not trying does bother me some, but its the way it's being described as Sam basically seeing himself as freed from his burdens and not caring to try at all that's making me not even want to bother to tune in. Depression and hopelessness would be a more sympathetic reason to me for Sam to gving up (despite how ridiculous it is that Sam's being made out like he's incapable of working anything out on his own), but if it's really Sam just saying, "Eh, fuck it. Not my problem anymore," god, I don't even know. It'd make me feel like I wasted the last seven years thinking these characters' relationship was something it wasn't. :(

And this is the first time I'm actually not even looking forward to their reunion, since it seems the reaction is more likely to be mutual resentment than relief. :(((

Well, I think the "not my problem anymore" vibe is coming from Jared, so you can hope that the tone will be different onscreen.

I also find that reaction so bizarre that it makes me either hypothesize plot reveal that all is not what it seems down the line or makes me think that Sam is seriously crazy in his extreme sanity. That much capacity for emotional disengagement and compartmentalization becomes Sam's version of depression.
