Dean felt that way to me but Sam didn't. Sam felt quite the opposite - very selfless, overly forgiving and sweet, almost too perfect. Still a bit flat (and thus boring) but not in a mean way at all. Sam was far more sympathetic than Dean, IMO.

Yeah Sam was mostly sweet and forgiving but just largely treated like wallpaper as has been said. They didn't give him much POV so i didn't know what he was thinking. Sam apparently still has a desire to not hunt after all the time and we didn't know this because they didn't bother to give us any insight into his mind and left it all opaque where you had to struggle to make up motivations for him.
