Crowley says, "Dick's dead" and "That bonw has a bit of a kick." So it sounds like a fair assumption would be that the same thing that happened to Dick happened to Dean and Cas.

Whatever helps him move on "guilt-free," I guess, but considering how their lives have gone I don't think he should see it that simply.

Oh, I actually agree with you. I'm just speculating on a possible reason they could use. I'd much rather see Sam trying to rescue Dean, and tbh the fact that he apparently gives up immediately is pissing me right off. But I think the explanation I hypothesized isn't wildly OOC.

da

But assuming Dean's dead and not doing anything to check if that's true is like burying someone that could still be alive.

Pretty silly from Sam.

Well he is sort of dead, isn't he? I get confused about what counts as "dead" in this universe. I know the article says Dean complains that Sam never looked for him, but I do think that has to be slight exaggeration. I suspect it was more complicated at first, and I hope that Sam found some reason to believe that Dean was dead. I'm just trying to be optimistic, give the benefit of the doubt.

well, by dead i mean not in hell or purgatory. In heaven, I guess.
A good end.

But with the way Dean disappeared, I think assuming he was okay was a bit too wild from Sam, sorry.
And he may not have Bobby or Cas, but he knows how to find a demon, how to contact Crowley (helloooo Sam),etc. He shoudl have resources to find out if Dean was dead or somehwere else.

I have one scenario, that I dobt very much they're going to take, that would fix this mess. For me, of course lol. I'm assuming they're hiding something from us, something important.

Sam did some sort of deal with Crowley. Crowley accepted (because, don't know, maybe he wants Sam out of the map, or because he's afraid Sam can bring Lucifer back, whatever) to help save Dean, and his 'help' is that monster boy that Dean finds in P. What Crowley asked from Sam was to stay away from hunting and his plans for a whole year, while he takes over the world.

or some crap like that. Something other than Sam is okay with not knowing what happened to his brother.

DA

I try to believe something like that, both because it makes infinitely more sense with Sam's characterization, and because if they are going with switching from present to past narrative through the season it just makes so much more artistic sense that there should be reveals in both Dean AND Sam's flashback narratives eventually that make for an actual twist in the current time storyline -- it it's just filling in the space of what Sam did in the missing year without contributing anything that changes viewers' impression of the initial setup, that's even clumsier storytelling than Spn has ever achieved.

And if something like that is happening, judging from what the information flow seems to have been in other seasons, Jared simply doesn't know, so he's obviously supplying a different framework for his accounts of Sam's situation.

Also, you'd think Crowley would take some action to keep Sam sidelined, and not just rely on the good luck of Sam deciding that it was dog time, so I'd be more convinced by a Sam story where Crowley was part of what went down rather than just an accidental beneficiary.

I think Jensen said they didn't really know much about the season, just 3 or 4 episodes so far.

And yes, unless they're dropping the Crowley storyle, one would expect him to be more careful about Sam. It's the man who defeated Lucifer, afterall.

I guess I'm hoping this is like S6 when we didn't know what happened with Sam, till we learnt he was soullless. Becase I can't believe they're this clueless about their own show. Season 7 was lazy, but this is downright ... ridiculous.
