Even in the Pilot, Dean went with his brother. He would had tried to save his brother back then.

Now? after all this journey, he doesn't care?

One can only be happy with that if you hate the brothers together.

LOL that's right, I ~suffered~ through 7 years of the brothers together, hoping and hoping that the show would suddenly change the formula completely and make the boys never speak to each other ever again. MY EVIL PLAN HAS FINALLY PAID OFF BWAHAHAHAHA...

Basically, I like the brothers ~together~ but I also like good storytelling and characterization, so that's why I'm currently happy with these spoilers. So many things can come of this, and sure, some will be heartbreaking, but that's why I like this show.

Also- Sam has always had a bit of a self-centered streak, it's one of his weaknesses. So yeah, it is IC for him to want things for himself. That doesn't mean he doesn't give a shit about Dean, it means he's human and being written well.

I don't have a problem with Sam wanting things for himself. I don't even think it's a weakness; it's a good thing about Sam, and it's made me sad to see that aspect of Sam so diminished. Show has made the point again and again that self-sacrifice is often destructive and certainly not a virtue. But there's a difference between accepting a loss and deciding to react by finding some happiness, as Sam wanted Dean to do and Dean tried to do after 5.22 and even somewhat succeeded in, and Sam, from the spoilers, not even trying to find out what happened to Dean. That's not a self-centered streak, that's kind of pathological.
