That's not actually healthy. OK, so the healthy response to having your sibling die isn't to go to a crossroads and sell your soul, but the healthy response to having your sibling vanish supernaturally when you are a person with supernatural skills and connections isn't to say, "Huh. Wonder if there are any cute pups at the shelter." That's just bizarrely abnormal in the opposite direction.

Maybe Sam though opening Purgatory would be putting the earth in danger? So he didn't try to open purgatory because it would release dangerous monsters. Sam was taking safety into consideration and I don't really blame him. Also, I think Sam grieved for Dean for a few months during that year and Amelia was there for him and comforted him during his grief. Maybe he grew and learned to accept that Dean was gone and maybe learned to let him go during that time. I think we are going to see a very independent, grown up Sam who has evolved very much, a Sam who has found his identity without the influence of Dean. And that makes me happy.

It sounds like he doesn't even know Dean's in purgatory. He doesn't know where Dean is, and he doesn't try to find him.

yeah, it's not like the show will give Destiel fans much joy in the future either, but I gues the Wincest side is dead now.

Be happy till you can, because you can bet Destiel won't get much more happiness either

I never had a problem with Cas fans wanting and creating their own version of the series. I had an issue when it was initially described as *the season the fans want*

Lol, I'm a Cas fan, and I put off reading it (and still haven't made it very far), because the concept annoyed me so greatly (it seemed kinda pretentious to me). It's, presumably, the season one group of Cas fans wanted. OTOH, me being annoyed by the idea of Redemption Road means nothing to those who wanted it or participated in it, and they are surely not heartbroken that a NNF was unexcited, so whatever. Hopefully, they enjoyed themselves.
