I bet Wincest fandom is going to take another big blow from this, just like we lost a ton of shippers in S4. As if things weren't already slow, now there's this to look forward to.

I'm afraid this is gonna be my case, sadly.
I ship them for the love, and if they don't love each other more than I love my stupid co-workers, what's the point?

I think I'm gonna get drunk or someting.

Me too, nonnie. Me too.

Carver starts off with this "The strength of the show is the bond between these two brothers and despite everything that's gone on in the past, at their core, their humanity." And then proceeds to write a storyline in which the bond between the brothers is basically non-existent. If that's the strength of the show, WTF?

A ayrt rt

I waver between thinking that the writers are actively moving away from the bond for whatever reason and that they just don't grasp how badly they've dealt with it and today I just don't know which it is.

Carver and Singer make statements like, 'Oh, we know that it's the heart of the show' and 'Of course, there's stuff going on with Sam and Dean' and then they deliver crap that weakens and/or totally backburners their relationship and IDEK, maybe they just take it for granted after so long. They don't realize that it takes real work to keep that relationship vital and interesting and the simple fact that Sam and Dean are together a lot doesn't cut it.

Or, maybe they're just not interested and are telling people what they want to hear. But, at this rate, if they devalue the relationship any further, there won't be that many people left even asking what's in store for the brotherly bond, because people are caring less and less as time goes on as the show gives them less and less to care about.

I think they want to hang on to the cult fans and shippers yet at the same time they want a more mainstream audience. So they're outright lying-- feeding the shippers platitudes that they never intend to deliver on, knowing that the hardcore fans will hang on and keep watching out of hope and desperation, all the while they're taking the story in the completely opposite direction: mainstream romance and killing the co-dependant relationship. It's the only explanation I can see for the sheer magnitude of obliviousness to what actually happened in season 6 that we've gotten from Singer's interviews lately and now this Comic Con crap. It's intentional.

Well SPN has always been a cult show, they'd do well to keep that in mind. It's not going to be HUGE now when it's at its lowest.

that's exactly why I'm leaving the show. Maybe not fandom, since I love seasons 1-5, but who the hell cares for this mess or new seasons?

Re: Comic-Con spoilers

But last year Grimm was a sorta-hit and Once Upon a Time was a smash hit and let's not even mention how huge Game of Thrones is. The viewing landscape has changed from seven years ago when the show started and now it's much more accepting of fantasy and sci-fi. (See Revolution, American Horror Story, Superhero movies, etc.) They probably think they can get out of the "cult show" ghetto, especially with Arrow as their lead.

Yeah, I guess that's what they believe. I think they're wrong. We'll see.
Those are new shows, while SPN is now 7 years old.

Yeah, there's no way a show in its eighth year is gonna bank on those trends and suddenly become a big thing, especially with the reviews and general reputation the past few seasons have gotten. SPN was actually lucky to debut in a year that was kind to horror/fantasy/sci-fi (riding off the coattails of LOST's success), and it's the only one from around that time still even on air (though that has more to do with its network than its success).

I also think Revolution is gonna flop something fierce, and the new Beauty and the Beast (despite OUAT's success), though Arrow might do well as superheroes are hot right now.

NA Or maybe they are just writing it as a bond between brothers. Not brothers fucking each other which is what you seem to want. You know, since they aren't actually fucking each other.

But how will the write the bond between the brothers as the strength of the show when Sam decided not to look for a way to get Dean out of Purgatory and instead went and got a dog and started a relationship and seemed to be pretty happy?

Well, maybe you don't care much about your family. Because I don't fuck my sister but I'd try with all my strenght to save her life if I knew there was a chance, and god knows we're not as close as Sam and Dean used to be. Just saying.

I could never stop shipping them entirely, but I get you. I talk about the ship, I enjoy the art and graphics on Tumblr, but I haven't felt inspired enough to write or even read Wincest fic in a while, and this is just a new low.

It's just so depressing to think that the version of their relationship I used to build from in fic is so outdated now. There's not much left to OTP over these days.

I ship them and read fic that takes place before S6 and all, but I'm tempted to stop. Won't create my own stuff after this, that's sure.

I'm not even sure I'm watching S8. I hope their ratings drop low and remember they used to have a good show but that show is gone and nobody wants to see the Happy Winchesters Have A Puppy show.

Seems more like Happy Sam Has A Puppy, D:ean Has Another Massive Dose of PTSD.

Yeah, I really wanted to do the S/D Mini-Bang as kind of a whatever to the blech of S7, but there's such a pall over things. I'm hesitant to even read some of the old, great fics because I prefer to remember how things were then and now what they've turned into.

I do wish that there was *something* that could happen to snap TPTB back to the reality of just how fantastic the show was and why and why it's not now, but I've been waiting for that and things only get worse.

There were several great little springflings where Sam saved Dean. Or even tried and failed. Now they all have a bitter aftertaste. Hell, there were some great little springflings where Sam hooked up with Jody and it was all part of his desperation and his search for ways to get Dean out and it was fine, I really like Sam/Jody, I could completely go for a relationship like that. But this is making me not want to read or write again.

as I see it, that was Kripke's show. This? this is nothing.
Sam, Dean and SPN as a whole are gone. Goodbye.
Hurts, but I'd rather think like this and remember when it was special than thinking about this hot mess of a series we have now. Maybe if nobody watches the new crap they'll get it at least. Or they cancel the show. Whatever.

I'm very very pissed, sorry. It's just a show, but god only knows how many hours of my life I've invested on it, so I'll give myself a day or two to be pissed.
