Cas/Death? Not sure if want. I think Cas/Atropos is way cooler.

I don't know, I just wish they stopped bringing up this shipping crap to the cast. Pathetic.

I'm just disgusted that they'd bring it up at Comic Con. This is one con where we get actual insight from writers and show runners. Ask your stupid shipping questions at the other cons if you must, but not here.

Plenty of stupid fans are saying it was awesome they dared to ask and they deserved an ovation for it.
I just...can't deal with this.
I'm a shipper, but I hate to bring up this to the actors and writers. You can ask interesting stuff but you prefer your fanfiction? Nggg.
And Jensen never finds it cool or amusing. It's clear he doesn't like ships. I don't understand this fandom.
Maybe I'm old for this.

+1 I mean, I always want the Serious Artsy Questions asked, but I don't mind ridiculous questions being asked of actors at cons, because that's just the way it is. But Comic-con gives you access to the writers! Pick their brains! My gosh!

When a question has been asked and it's clear Jensen is not very happy about it, I think it's time to stop it. Big cons, small cons, whatever.

Silly questions are fine, but no need to be annoying.

Well. Yeah. I think we can all agree on that. But it's never going to happen because you're always going to have stupid and entitled fans.

On one hand, I feel secondhand embarrassment about actors being asked shipping questions. But on the other hand, I feel like nobody would get up in arms about it if the questions were about a m/f (noncanon) ship rather than an m/m one. There's been questions about female love interests before and nobody goes "OMG DON'T ASK THE ACTORS THAT" about those.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-15 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
THE FEMALE LOVE INTERESTS ARE ACTUAL LOVE INTERESTS.

CASTIEL IS NOT A LOVE INTEREST.

DESTIEL IS NOT CANON.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION IN THIS MATTER.

DO MARQUEE TAGS EVEN WORK ANY MORE BECAUSE THIS NEEDS TO BR IN BEON OR SOMETHING APPARENTLY. FFS.

NA Nonnie, can we assume that you will be equally irked by the fact a Wincest fan showed Jared some Wincest fan art?

da, but a wincester (ex wincester from now on, maybe?)

I'm very pissed they did that. Very. Leave fandom for Tumblr/LJ and try not to embarrass the actors, please.

I admit that there is an assumption I'm making that fandom would react the same way to someone asking about Dean/Eliot Ness or Sam/Chuck or whatever Winchester/male character combination, since it is mostly Dean/Castiel that people ask about. But I do have the feeling that fandom would get up in arms about the actors being asked any m/m type questions in a way they wouldn't for female love interest type questions, and that's what bothers me. Obviously slash isn't necessarily a good representation of non-heterosexual relationships, but the idea of men in love isn't some shameful secret that fandom needs to hide.

Also I wasn't necessarily talking actual love interests. I wouldn't expect fandom to freak out over a question about Dean/Lisa or Sam/Ruby. But what about Dean/Ruby, for example? It's non-canon, if someone wanted to ask a question about it is that the ~shipping crap~ we need to keep away form the actors?

Re: Comic-Con spoilers

(Anonymous) 2012-07-16 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
if it's brought up often even when we already know how the actors feel(because you know this is true, Jensen dislikes this destiel talk), then yes, no matter if it's homo or heterosexual. kit's pointless, and it's pushing the fantasies of a part of the fandom that has no relenvancy down the actors' throat. I think he'd have the same right to find it annoying if every other con some ans asked about Dean/Ruby.

And you know, after the crap some fans have said of Jensen (homophobe, mysoginist...) for this same matter, I wonder how some fans still have the guts to say anything again.

ayrt YES. IT IS ALWAYS RUDE TO TELL PEOPLE YOU WRITE PORN ABOUT THEM.

BUT IT IS NOT INCIDENTAL THAT YOU HAD TO MAKE UP A HYPOTHETICAL INCIDENT FOR A HET SHIP BUT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT REAL LIVE RUDE INVASIVE FUCKS IN THE DESTIEL CASE.

And don't get fucking disingenuous about this either. As you can see from this incident you can't talk about shipping without fandom and porn entering in to the discussion.

Also, you know, if Jensen is particularly more uncomfortable with m/m ships or even just with Destiel than other non canon ships, (which there is no evidence of because no one has asked him about het non canon ships that I know of, and it's clear he's not big on romance plotlines generally) he has a right to be. I have no idea how many times by now he's indicated that he doesn't want to discuss Deathstiel or Dean/Castiel or whatever variation but seriously anyone who's sufficiently involved in fandom to pull that stunt should know better, and should be told better when they fuck up. But many people are encouraging this instead.

And of course, dickhead above, the Wincest/J2 fanart incident was godawful. No one's defending that.

And strangely enough, not actually what the conversation was about.
