I haven't tried that one gen WIP with the dusty b/w banner that I see getting updated all the time. Can anyone report on that?

I think that one is finished now. You mean Dust Devils? It's het, not gen, I'd argue. I've read most of it, though I haven't read the last few chapters. The writing is good, the author is proficient, and the case is interesting. She's got an old school sort of vibe to her storytelling, if that makes sense? It reminds me of gen stories written in the early 2000s, somehow, which isn't a bad thing, but it occasionally skirts the line in going OTT.

Also, I sincerely hope that you like OCs and Dean/OC if you want to give it a try. It's the best example of a Dean/OC story I've come across - the development felt very real and the OCs incredibly fleshed out and alive in their own rights. There's a couple of things that felt unnecessary to me, but it wasn't Dean's relationship with the OFCs - I really enjoyed both of those and I'm usually pretty :/ at OC stuff.

It's a good story but it wasn't really able to hook me and keep me going the entire time (which is why I haven't read the last few chapters even though the fic was finished a couple of weeks back). I'd rec it, just check and heed the warnings first!
