You could always focus on the fact that spending time with a new character is a good way to develop/add new layers of characterization to an existing one, which could in turn influence the brother's relationship (hopefully in a positive way).

Mmmm, I do hope so. Lots of rough and nasty and sweaty and naked effing. IDK why anyone is worried about a love interest when surely the payoff of naked Jared is worth a whole lot. I can't wait, personally.
