I'm the Jess-sentimentalist from the other comment, and I like the 180 :). Particularly because Ruby in her (primary) blonde vessel was more about the bamf/action approach, whereas in her brunette vessel she added a seductive element to her interactions with Sam, presumably because being mainly badass hadn't won him over to the powers-using side of things. I don't recall any particular indication of an attraction between Ruby and Sam in S3, though I'm coming up for a re-watch of that season soon.
