Because he isn't the showrunner on Being Human, a re-make of an UK show, his wife is. He may need it on his resume to go on to bigger and better things. He'll have it on paper that he has been the showrunner and knows the job.

I don't think he'll stay long. The moment he gets something better he will jump ship.
