When people overly praise my fic, especially my writing, I think they're just making fun of me.

In a reverse-example of what happens to you, I'm kind of pushed into that "yeah, looking forward to it" role. I'm chatting with a person I met in another fandom, and she always talks about her own stories and goes all "wink wink nudge nudge". Sometimes, she even actually asks me to read them. And I just don't know how to tell her that her stories just don't interest me at all. Her writing isn't half-bad and the characterisation is fine too, but the plot is just so boring! I just think it would be rude to say, "Listen, I'm not gonna read your fic, okay?" Ugh, I'm such a doormat.
