You're not understanding the argument though. Meme wasn't "pissed" about there being more than one challenge for the same thing. Meme was "pissed" because that challenge was created over a ~slight that didn't really exist. It's the intentions behind the challenge, not the challenge itself.

But when the fics for summerlovin went up on FD, meme protested them because of the intentions of the mods. I'm sure most of the contributors didn't know the reason it was created but wanted to participate regardless.

Wow. I didn't even see this comment when I asked if you were said.

Meme didn't ~protest~ them. Memers chose not to read them. No one's obligated to read your fic.

Um, I didn't see any protesting going on. I think someone asked if this was the same challenge, and a discussion of the original wank probably happened. I personally didn't read any of the fics because I don't read D/C, so this challenge (unlike the all-inclusive springfling) wasn't applicable to me. That was probably true for a lot of other people as well.

I didn't read them or comment because I don't want to support the exchange as a whole even if it's not the participants' fail. Giving feedback at a comm is a kind of support and it was just that infuriating to me. Also while I read D/C I'm not an OTPer and the challenge seemed very much targeted to those, it didn't feel like other people were particularly welcomed as participants or audience.

This comment makes me feel sad for some reason.

I wish I could bake a cake filled with rainbows and smiles and everyone would read fic and be happy...

This!

Seriously? How does a sign up post and accompanying fics garner a unfriendly feeling to an audience?

And you think shunning writers unaware of the mods wank is a good way to encourage them?

Re: Gimme all the Fics!

I am not shunning the writers since I still give feedback on their other stories, if they are authors I read regularly. (Also I am not obligated to encourage anyone, just like noone is obligated to encourage me with their feedback.)
The origin of the comm made it look like that and I can't make myself unaware of it. I am someone who, like many others, offered to fill pretty much anything at springfling and the mods chose to care only about the few that did not want to write Cas specifically. So they don't feel welcome among multishippers and seem to want a D/C only environment.

How would you suggest giving feedback without supporting the exchange? I suppose I could PM but that may just be weird and require explanations and I don't want to needlessly confront the authors with wank.

Shunning? You seem to be operating under the rather bizarre impression tht this challenge would have garnered more feedback if not for the wanton cruelty of those who wrongly withheld their comments. Not to mention that you seem to think readers should leave authors motivational comments. I'm pretty sure there are seminars for that.
