Re: question about Sam and season 8.

Long Distance Call I thought was so-so.

The Rapture was excellent. I don't like it, it's not the kind of thing my taste runs to, but it was a fine capstone to s4's gradual revelation of just how fucked up the deal with angels is. Almost everything that was interesting and powerful and horrifying about the vessels storyline is there, I just wish more had carried over into s5. We did get some glimpses of both the horror and the horrifyingness, in Lucifer with Nick in 5.1 and Sam in 5.3, in Raphael's vessel's fate (come to think of it, those two are both also Carver), but they could have done so much more with the blackmail, the sheer power, the obliviousness to human autonomy and concerns combined with the use of those things.

(I am still a bit bitter that all the Sam aftermath has been about the Cage and soullessness, not about vesseling Lucifer. Not only did resouled!Sam remember that part, for him in 6.12 it was the last thing he remembered, like it was yesterday, and they did nothing with that. /undying resentment)

Well, I hated the angels with a fiery burning passion. Still do. So I think an entire episode about them at the end of the season was awful. I thought the same thing in S6. I don't want a show about God and religion and prophets any more than I want a romance. I want my little weekly Horror/Roadtrip Show That Could.

da

But that has nothing to do with the individual quality of the episode. That's disliking the focus and subject matter.
