New showrunner paranoia, maybe? I don't know, I've never seen Being Human, but though I've heard here that it does a lot with relationships and romance, I can't imagine, given the premise, that it's all happy, healthy date night sharing a milk shake and seeing a nice romantic comedy type stuff.

No, it's not as soap operaish as I've seen some nonnies make it out to be. More focused on the characters' relationships with each other, to be sure, but exaggerations have occurred.

It is so not. Sure there was that one episode with awkward double date hijinks with Josh and Aidan and their girlfriends, but that was like a blip in the angst and woe. More like every romantic relationship has been pretty dark and doomed and it laughs in the face of happy endings, tbh.

I still don't want him turning SPN into a romance show. I don't care how dark and twisted and doomed. I want the story of the Winchesters. Together.

(Er, to explain. It became "The Love Story of John and Aeryn", and people insisted that's what we'd all signed up for, but that totally wasn't obvious at the start, hence my bitterness. Still, even with the show OTP-ing it wasn't remotely "a romance show". I actually couldn't think of one that is, not like books can be about romance).

Well, despite the Indiana Jones movie, and whatever you think of post-3.16 Sam and show's handling of that Sam, one thing that Sam and his involvement with Ruby and his whole response to Dean's death were never shown as being was happy romantic date-night healthy Sam.
