I don't see Sam and Dean as at odds more often than Dean and Cas, and I don't think it's about relaxing exactly, but the best lighter wincest for me has more of a brotherly vibe than a lover vibe, so I can buy something coded more stereotypically romantic with D/C than with S/D without getting thrown out of the fic. (For that matter, I think that the fraughtness in Sam and Dean also needs to feel as though it comes as much from their relationship as brothers as from the sexual/romantic element in the fic if it's going to work for me -- angsty D/C has a better chance of selling me on specifically romantic angst as a major element.)
