Help with LJ Page links - dumb questions

(Anonymous) 2011-06-03 03:28 pm (UTC)(link)
While on meme, there are various clicky things I see all the time but half of them mystify me. I figured out EXPAND (and COLLAPSE) and REPLY TO THIS, but I'm still not sure what these other 'clickables' are used for....

LINK (that shows up in the thread title, next to the local time)
PARENT
THREAD

LJ Help wasn't much.... can anyone shed some light. I just wonder if using any of these could make reading/following threads easier. Thanks.

LINK is the direct link to that particular comment. Very useful, if you want to link to a certain comment for some reason.
THREAD is basically the same thing as link.
PARENT takes you to the previous comment in a thread - if you see a comment and wanna know which comment it was replying to, click "parent". Useful in super active & complicated threads where it's hard to see who is replying to who. Also useful if you're reading in flat view. :)

LINK is for when you want the exact location of a comment. For instance, if I'm talking on meme and saying "wait, I'm not that nonnie. I'm the one, who said this: http://spnanonhaven.livejournal.com/12197.html?thread=55756709#t55756709", I'd right-click on LINK and copy the link location. (This comment wasn't me, btw.)

You click on PARENT when you want to read the comment that the comment you're currently looking at is replying to. (In the example above it would be this one: http://spnanonhaven.livejournal.com/12197.html?thread=55755685#t55755685)

You click on THREAD when you just want to see the single thread or subthread and not all the comments on a page.
