We have an OT post! I asked for it but I can't think of a cool subject to post here, right now. But I will! Thanks spanky.

Music

Your favorite bands? I'd have to say Radiohead, Sigur rós, Portishead and hmm, Smashing Pumpkins. And some others. What about you, nonnies?

Re: Music

Arcade Fire, Imogen Heap (not a band but a solo artist), The Animal Collective, Broken Social Scene, Belle and Sebastian, The Decemberists, Florence and the Machine, Patrick Wolf, Wolf Parade, and much much more

(lol I wonder if this will give me away)

I have been listening to so much Pink Floyd tonight it's starting to not be funny. I went poking around on the iTunes radio thing, see, and lo and behold! 4everfloyd.com! I just requested Dogs and Comfortably Numb (Pulse live version) and was just about to go to sleep when nooooo, someone has to play One of These Days.

I love One of These Days.

*sigh* Favorite artist is Tori Amos, though. She's been my girl since eighth grade and I owe her so very much. I Also Love: Depeche Mode, The Cure, Lady Gaga, Led Zeppelin, Cher, Britney Spears (mostly old Britney), Madonna, Violent Femmes, The White Stripes, Florence + the Machine (UM WHY THE FUCK WASN'T "HOWL" A SINGLE). Several others.

I like Florence and the Machine! And Broken Social Scene's 'Lover's spit'. I haven't listened to the new Arcade Fire album, but I've read some really good reviews. I love 'Wake up' and 'Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels)'. Unfortunately I don't think I know who you are, nonnie.

Re: Music

people from my flist would probably be able to figure it out, at least some non-fandom people I've known for a long time, but I don't think any of them are here. So I should be pretty safe. So I'm just gonna go ahead and give more info ;)

I love BSS's new album! I just saw them play, too, and it was AWESOME. I love bands that have a whole bunch of different people playing and they switch up and switch instruments and go on and off the stage, etc.

I didn't really like Arcade Fire's new album all that much until I saw them play live, and heard the power that's in it, and I've been obsessed lately. Still, nothing will beat Neighbourhood and Wake Up. Both of which they played!!!! AAAH I WAS IN MUSIC HEAVEN.

The Beatles and Augie March are my two favourite bands.

I love The Cure. I'll never get tired of 'Close to me'. ahaha you've been listening to Pink Floyd? It reminds me of being in my dad's car when I was little. He used to listen to Pink Floyd. I still like 'On the turning away'.

The White Stripes is really cool. I'll have to try Tori Amos one day!

MGMT, The Beatles, Beach House, NIN.

I've recently heard one song by Sigur rós that I liked so I'll probably check them out later.

I've never seen them live, Arcade Fire or Broken Social Scene. And it sounds so cool from your description. I need to find some friends with similar musical tastes so I can go to concerts. I feel kind of weird going alone.
I'll have to download both new albums!

it can be super challenging finding like-minded music friends in RL. Just go by yourself!! Seriously, I go by myself to concerts all the time. It's actually pretty awesome. I felt weird at first but now I totally love it.

From MGMT, I love 'Electric feel'! If you decide checking out Sigur rós, I love all the songs from the albums Ágætis Byrjun and Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust (wikipedia helped me with the spelling). 'Hoppípolla' and 'Glosoli' from Takk are very cool, too. And The nothing song that was part of the Vanilla sky soundtrack.

NIN is too heavy for me :P

The Beatles :) John Lennon's recent birthday made me go listen to some of their songs. There'll never be a band quite like The Beatles. I didn't know who Augie March are. Just googled them.

I'm hungry and I have mac and cheese, mac and cheese or mac and cheese to eat. And I really don't want it. What's everyone else eating so I can live vicariously through your food.

If I were still in college my current grocery situation would be less shameful. Going shopping tomorrow though, so that'll be better.

Delicious crepes. Mmmmhm. And very easy to make. I got the recipe out of my old French school book.

Can we turn this into a recipe exchange thread? Anybody willing to play? I'll go first with the crepes.

All you need is:
250g flour
500ml milk
4 eggs
a pinch of salt
a pinch of vanilla sugar
50g butter
a table spoon cognac/rum/amaretto/grand marnier/whatever you like (I usually don't use a spoon, I just tilt the bottle for good measure)

Mix flour, milk, eggs, salt and vanilla sugar in a bowl. Melt butter and give it and the cognac/whatever to the mix and stir again. Pour dough in a thin layer into a hot pan and bake out.

Depending on the diameter of your pan, you'll get about 10 to 20 crepes out of the dough. Eat with cinnamon & sugar, jam, nutella, cheese & ham or whatever else you like.

Profit!

I love Placebo! A few years ago, just when Black Market Music came out, I was so obsessed with that band ehehe it was a bit ridiculous.
I'm going to check Ani Difranco. Thanks nonnie :)
