What are your five things, nonnie?

Raise a child
Marry a good man
Own my own home
Live debt free for one year
Learn to make bread/cakes/cookies from scratch

Apparently I'm searching for domesticity but there is more to life!! I just have no hobbies no interests nothing is clicking.

Well, I can't give you advice on the domesticity thing, but I can tell you that bread-making is great therapy. It's So. Satisfying.

I make bread, and I love it. The rising process is an exercise in patience and care, but the kneading part is very physical. And then you end up with warm, homemade bread, and what could possibly be better?

It's the one thing I am pretty sure I can accomplish :)

You totally should! It's so simple and real. It always makes me happy! Even when I'm trying a new recipe and it turns out awful, it's still fun.

Bake bread, get yourself financially secure, and get pregnant, that's my advice. Forget the 'find a good man' part; that will either happen, or it won't, there's not a damn thing you can do about it. Gotta be Zen about that shit! :D :D

OP

Don't get to down about it. I have a great friend who I really love but she is one that has such exuberance for life - I mean EVERYTHING. She will try anything, eat anything, has no money but some how manages amazing trips because people adore her. That wears me out sometimes but you know she gave me great advice once when I mentioned being jealous about it. She said that she lived each day for that day and that day only. Also that she had to make herself get up and out the door each day, otherwise she would drown thinking of the bad stuff and that drowning is a horrible way to die.

I wasn't doing a bucket list but I was over whelmed with the crap I had going on - she sat with me and wrote out a short list for the next day and taped it to the coffee pot. She said the coffee was for the next and so was the list. IDK it sounds really silly and corny but after a while it did work.

I like the coffee pot idea actually. Wise friend is wise I believe :-)

What sort of things were on your coffee pot list, anon? Was it a list of things you had to do? Or a list of cool things for you to do as well as your responsibilities?

When I first started doing posting them it was the things that kept me up at night - that I could do nothing about until tomorrow that was a problem. You know how you get obsessed with trying to solve something, then I'd be up all night and then too tired to take care of the house and the house became a true disaster. So it would be like call about one bill I owe, take out trash, make a grocery list. Nothing major but all the little things that just seemed too much. It did help because I wasn't over whelmed trying to think how I would get everything done. I learned it didn't all have to be done BUT I did need to get organized and de-stressed and then things wouldn't get so out of hand. It has helped in the long run because I find that in the past year in a half that more important decisions are easier to handle.

And I just have to say this is OT but another friend just got her butt slapped by a hot country singer. She's hilarious about it.

There's still so much I want to do. And I'm not getting any younger. You've made feel a bit depressed too, depressed!nonnie.

But it's not so bad that you only have five things! It means you don't have a lot of unfulfilled wishes? :)

Re: Bucket Lists

(Anonymous) 2010-12-03 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
I guess that is a positive way it could be. But honestly it isn't I cannot come up with any dreams and I feel like I'm never going to get most of the five I listed. Sorry for making you depressed too.

It's fine. I'm old enough to have done some of the things on your list and I haven't so I can see how it can be upsetting. But cheer up nonnie, and don't worry too much about it. It'll happen in time.

(Anonymous) 2010-12-03 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh my lord, I do indeed!

I won't bore you with the full thing, but some of the ones I've accomplished are:

- See ball lightning
- Get a picture of my feet taken in a photo booth (surprisingly tricky, needed two friends)
- Go to the other side of the world

Aww nonnie. Sorry you're depressed. :( I wish I could just spring out of your screen and hug you senseless. *hugs* Start small anon. Do something you'd like to do that's small and instantly achievable. Don't hold out for the big stuff to come along. <3

Thanks :)

I actually went out and had my hair chopped off and dyed Friday. I always wanted to be a red head so good-bye sandy brown ponytail, hello red pixie :-) It's really cool and I'm happy I did something different.

(bread-baking nonnie here)

That's awesome! Pixie red hair rocks. I've been a fake redhead for years now, i'll never go back to brown! Good for you, nonnie. I'm glad you're trying something new. :D :D

Awesome! I love pixie cuts, they're just sassy, feminine, cute and classy at the same time. I'll bet you look fabulous, anon. :D
