You people couldn't tell that from the thread title?

I direct your attention to the thread http://spnanonhaven.livejournal.com/1635.html?thread=54555747#t54555747 which tells me the fic pairs up RpastDean and Lisa.

i.e. OPs make mistakes.

Yeah. I assumed it was a fusion + user error.

AYRT I don't get your point. I'd make the same comment if you left a comment in that thread exclaiming in shock over the story being rated R and having Dean/Lisa, because of your inability to parse a missing space.

HOLY SHIT, the R was the rating, and not a typo? Rating is supposed to go after the pairing, so I didn't realize.

I'd just like to add that the format for thread titles is supposed to be

Title [Pairing, Rating] by AUTHOR

Fandom(s) and genre don't belong there, pairing does (and in the case of this thread is missing), and rating goes after the pairing if any.

What can I say, I like consistency, and made a point to stick with the format back on Spermy.

The author didn't list a pairing on the comm post, so I just used Het as that was what they labelled. And in the case of a crossover, I figure people do want to know the fandoms. That was how I did the crossover and multi-fandom bb before on spermy and here, haven't had anyone complain before this week.

Fair enough. I'm complaining now, then.

I'd prefer know what's in the fic, rather than have to guess because there's no fandom listed. In a challenge like spn_cinema that allows spn and rps pairings are one way to show the fandom, but that doesn't work for gen fics that don't have a pairing; so it's easier to just add spn or rps to the header. And the crossover fics need fandoms in the header, as let's face it, not everyone's interested in every fandom out there.

I'm trying to increase the comment count by wanking. We're still 700 comments from 5,000. >:(

I am le tired, can I have a nap and then fire ze missiles?

Or let's take this thread and run with it! Just taking a cursory glance from the discussion here and the threads from the last few pages, Spermy's template is defunct and (maybe) no longer relevant. Do-over?

Okay, I can go with this. Given the inclusion of exchanges and challenges, the template really isn't appropriate any longer.

...

I think I'm agreeing with you, which is not conducive to wank. Dammit.

Then we can discuss/argue on what a new template should look like. I'll start. This one:

CHALLENGE: TITLE [FANDOM, PAIRING, RATING] by AUTHOR

would be the most comprehensive for the thread title, but titles tend to go long, and I do recall quite a few threads cutting off because of the length. I'd say move the pairing and/or rating into the body of the comment itself, yes/no?

I think the template works for *most* things. There's no need to throw it out completely.

Reviving this thread! So far the consensus is generally leaning towards having the thread titles be:

CHALLENGE: TITLE [PRIMARY PAIRINGS/GEN] by AUTHOR

and thread comments be:

RATING, WORD COUNT

Art by ARTIST

MASTERPOST LINK

OTHER PAIRINGS, CROSSOVER WITH OTHER FANDOM, ETC.

Which removes fandom listing from the header (though to be fair it was never in the header to begin with). So an example threader header will be:

--------------------------------------------

Rarepairs_BB: Everybody's a Critic [Atropos/Adam] by mysticsodom

Art by [livejournal.com profile] frank

R, word count: 23,500

http://rarepairs_bb.livejournal.com/766.html

Other pairings: Sam/Impala, Dean/Dodge Charger

--------------------------------------------

Like, dislike, other comments? I actually miss having the rating in the thread title.

Would Spanky like to weigh in? For all I know they want to keep Spermy's template.

I wouldn't mind keeping rating in the thread title. But basically I just came here to tell you that I love you lots for using Adam/Atropos as the example.
