30 rough sex and 7 watersports :o

I knew it would be uneven but damn.

I foresee a problem, though. It must have come up in other multifandom comms and I'm wondering how they dealt with it. There are certain authors who you can probably count on to write roughly the same pairings every week. Won't that be kind of a blatant giveaway of their identity? IDK, I guess it doesn't matter. I've got way too much kink to read, better get started.

It is really uneven.

Actually with spn_las I never know wrote what. Pairings and genres are pretty varied. I'm not sure how it will work with people choosing the same fandoms over and over.

It is a lot of kink to read.

It's all SJ crusaders over there, and they keep files on people so don't expect much. I've only lurked there, this isn't grudge speaking. But I have certainly seen how it works on sf_dramaaa

If you go between wtf_inc and sf_drama you will get whiplash.

Tell the truth. Who watch Gosselin vs. Palin and thought the episode came straight out of fandom_wank?

WHAT. Even if I wasn't using Delicious to manage my bookmarks for fandom, I'd be devastated by this. Delicious is too good a resource to lose!

FA, it was bad enough when they started to force you to create a Yahoo ID to make a new Delicious account, now they're shutting it down entirely? Fuck you, Yahoo!

That you only have to type in one captcha word to post? Why didn't I know this until today?

Beta readers for small, less active, fandoms

(Anonymous) 2010-12-20 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Problem: I've just found a new show (Oz), and the fandom isn't exactly Supernatural-sized. Fic is a bit hard to come by, but far worse is finding a good beta, one who's familiar with the show, and can do SPAG and characterization.

Make no mistake, I've read some awesome fic, but I've also seen the characterization for certain characters go way off course, and I'd like to make sure I don't make similar mistakes. So, any suggestions? I'm not looking to write a novel, and I'd like to avoid the ff.net beta readers, if at all possible.

Anyone else have trouble finding a good beta for a small, less active, fandom than Supernatural?

I did know that! I feel guilty every time I do it, though, because it means I'm not giving captcha any useful data.

I also have a moral quandary every time I see the old-fashioned script 's' that looks like an 'f', because it's an 'f', but captcha should know that it's really an 's'...unless that's misleading, because captcha wants the literal answer rather than the extrapolated one...eeeek. I never know what to answer.

It's possible that I worry about this shit too much. ;)

Poor :Captcha!

You only have to type one word in, but it has to be the right word.

You'd be better off using your usual betas, and then once you get a rep asking other people in that fandom to beta for you. If the community is small enough that they only have one central lj comm with open posting, you could try asking for a beta there.

That sounds so deep and cryptic, nonnie. I want to adopt it as my personal motto or something.

Annoying habits

(Anonymous) 2010-12-21 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Today I spent the day with a friend who doesn't listen to anything you say to her. She starts talking and no matter what you tell her, and she might even pause for a bit while you're talking, she just keeps on what she was saying without acknowledging what you said. And she does this allll day. And the subject is usually her very important issues. But it's not restricted to that, unfortunately. It's tiring. I felt so... fed up at the end of the day. Do you know of people like this?

Uff, I had to get it out.

Re: Annoying habits

(Anonymous) 2010-12-21 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
That's my best friend in a nutshell. I've had about 16 years to get used to it, but I still can't spend more than one day at a time with her, or she'll drive me fucking crazy. If it's something really important to me, I can usually get her to listen, but only for about 10 minutes at a time. Eh, it grows on you.

Re: Beta readers for small, less active, fandoms

(Anonymous) 2010-12-21 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I've thought about this, but part of the reason I don't want to use my usual betas, is I need someone to check for characterization, and they have to be familiar with the show to do that. Not to mention, honestly, I don't see myself really digging in with this fandom; I was just planning on writing a fic or two.

So that I don't sound like a hypocondriac at work

Does anyone know why eyelids (the bottoms) would be sore and dark? It's not bags and it just started today, but they are very sore to touch.
