This story relies on not one, but two alternate timelines, which strained my credulity somewhat. It takes place in a timeline (I’ll call it A) in which Sam and Dean began a sexual relationship three days before Sam was to leave for Stanford. Because of that change, Sam never leaves and Dean never even knew that he applied to college. Their current relationship is chaste after some incident three months earlier that seems similar to “Devil’s Trap” in that John was possesed.
Sam begins having visions of himself in a second timeline. Not the one familiar to us from the show, but one where he went to college and accidentally discovered Brady was a demon. In that timeline, Brady kidnaps and whumps Sam while trying to figure out how to keep himself from getting in trouble with YED for getting exposed early.
Anyway, Alternate Reality A Sam and Dean decide to cross over to AR B to rescue AR-B!Sam.

Sam’s very woobie in this. The author cites [livejournal.com profile] nyxocity as someone she bounced ideas off of, which probably explains why the author thought it would be okay to include OTT things like the spell that takes them to the AR requiring them to strip and masturbate, which is about where the whole thing runs off of the rails. AR-A Sam n Dean go to AR-B, rescue Sam, and then have a threesome with him. This gets AR-A S/D over whatever Azazel!John did that kept them from having sex and convinces AR-B!Sam that he no longer has to stay away from AR-B!Dean to keep from manipulating him into an unwanted sexual relationship. AR-A!Dean wants it, so AR-B!Dean must secretly want it, too!

I did not make any of that up. Anyway, it was all too stupid, and it did not help that characters kept finding things hot that made me eyeroll.

That sounds like one crazy story. I'm impressed you managed to finish it.

The first half was really good, but then the fic just went really, really wrong.

Oh dear god. maerhys and nyxie collaborated on a fic? That's...fucking hilarious, is what that is. No doubt they've bonded over mutual meme hatred.
