SPOILERS TOO.

I didn't like it either, but I didn't see that much a problem with the disabled husband. First, anyone can be violent and abusive, disabled or no. Second, the whole losing his job and practically all his former life could be what pushes someone to violence and anger. I find that explanation better than the regular 'well, he's just a bad person'.

Of course, the fic had a ton of other problems, outrageous sexual harassment of employees(that the boss knew about, but didn't put an end to) and starting a sexual relationship with someone who's just been abused and is emotionally vulnerable, to name a couple.

Wait, I'm getting confused here. Jensen has an abusive disabled husband? Or is an abusive disabled husband? And Jared has been sexually harassed and abused, too?

Jensen has an abusive disabled husband. Jensen sexually harasses Jared at work, that's how they first meet. When Jensen is beaten up, on pain meds and upset, Jared starts a relationship with him(with full knowledge of the marriage and abuse).

Before the abusive husband came around, I did want to know how the harassment thing would be resolved between them, but yeah, after Jensen got beaten up it got bad.

Ah, ok. It suddenly makes more sense. ;) May I ask, what kind of disablement does the husband have that still allows him to beat up 6 ft Jensen? Do I have to suspend all my disbelief when reading this fic?

I don't remember that being clearly stated, except that he was in a coma for a long time and then had months and months of physical therapy. Supposedly, he also has a head trauma that changes personality/makes him violent.

So I guess I shouldn't bother saving the fic as a PDF before the author takes it down to be published, then?

Question for those who've read it:

In this fic, does Jensen cheat on his husband with Jared and then walk out on him in the end? I only ask because nightporters has a habit of doing that; she brings them together with infidelity, then has Jensen become the "better" man and end things with Jared, so the story ends on a depressing note just because she's attempting to be deep and meaningful. I've sworn off reading her fics for this reason - I can't deal with E*G who write with an obvious skew to their favorite J.

It ends with Jensen going back to his abusive husband, but the way it ends, it's not because he's a 'better man' and it seems like he might choose Jared. Jared isn't portrayed like the bad guy at all.

I've never read a fic of hers. I'm new to SPN, and my first introduction to her name was the BB post. I can't get over that her username is nightporters and she wrote a J2 fic called "The Nightporter" with a lot of OMC sex.

AYRT As I said, I'm new. I don't know if she had previous names, but it's the intentional part that makes me think I wouldn't want to read her fic. It's like non-ironically taking the username marysue. (Nothing against Mary Sues, empowerment, disclaimers, blah, blah, blah.)

First, anyone can be violent and abusive, disabled or no. True. However, the complete lack of sympathy and the demonisation that occurs in this fic upset me greatly.
