We haven't had any complaints of that since the main BB, innit?

Naaah, there was that DCMB with the crazy-ass title that was like "If Ever You Get Close to a Human and Human Behavior (Prepare to Be Confused)" or something. It was pretty damn long.

to be fair, bree_black kinda owns up to it, and the fic is good.

Is this good, nonnies? Because if it were J2, it'd be right up my alley. I might do a find&replace if the fic's worth the work.

I'm a quarter in, and so far it's readable. I'd say you should switch Castiel/Cas for Jensen and Dean for Jared and you'll be set.

Am the only one mildly weirded out that Anna is a teacher? Especially when Alastair is a student?

Only me? Okay, then.

This fic:

1. Is about bullying;
2. Woobifies Castiel into the nerdiest woob with an ostentatious vocabulary that ever was;
3. Whumps him repeatedly via homophobic bullying that never lets up;
4. Features practically no characteristics that make Castiel and Dean recognisable as themselves;
5. Has Castiel call his mom "Mama";
6. Has over-the-top shouting matches and confrontations and where everything's laid out on the line in the most dramatic way possible...

AND I LOVE IT. OM NOM NOM THIS FIC IS LIKE CANDYYYYY~

On the technical standpoint, there's a lot of details (especially regarding their classes) that I like and give an organic feel to the setting. There's a fair amount of telling where it comes to setting up Castiel's background and motivations, but there's also a lot of nuanced emotional showing that I appreciate as well.

Awesome summary! This I gotta read (bookmarks for this weekend).

I didn't like it. It's readable, but it's cheesy, cliched, over-dramatic, and completely OOC. Castiel was annoying and Dean was a complete Mary-Sue. If you like schmoopy, whump!cas, you should give it a try, otherwise I'd skip over this.

I love whumped Cas, but this didn't do it for me. Mainly because it isn't Cas. It's a wordy, wimpish OC who thinks anonymously vandalizing the villain's car is "standing up for himself".

There was an interesting idea in there-- Castiel is the weird outcast who was homeschooled until high school-- but it didn't live up to the execution.

Oh my god, I wanted to throttle the author for making Castiel so annoying. I'm guessing his speech patterns were supposed to be quirky and adorable, but every other sentence I had to grit my teeth. Canon Castiel is an actual non-human creature and he doesn't speak like that.

This began and ended any flirtation with AU D/C I might have entertained.

One fic sucks, so all fics suck. Makes sense.

Dude. Just. Why would you take your first chance with a D/C AU on a fic with a summary like that and has already been mentioned on meme upthread as not being good?

Self fulfilling prophecies mean people get to be right. And people love being right.

I implore that you give this AU a go.

I disagree. The fic is very well-written, funny, and witty, but that Castiel's completely off.

Castiel giggling? Really?

Personally, if I want to rec an AU to someone who's trying them out for the first time, I'd go with something where the characters are a little more recognisable.
