Seriously. That Dean was this small petty crook who had no redeeming qualities at all. IDK why Carmen was with him to begin with since it apparently wouldn't have been out of character for him to steal his own mother's silver to pay off a bookie and he kept porn in his trunk.
But I think the anon who brought up that the original version of Dean was a douche may have it right here. Dean became much more sympathetic in later iterations than he was in the original drafts. IDK when Jared came up with this story, I'm guessing it was around the time they were shooting the pilot, but I hope it's one he moved past early on. I'm kind of surprised they didn't tell the Js what had caused the split before shooting though; it's not like it was a big mystery in S1, the truth was out very quickly.
