It never really sat well with me that Sam was supposedly happy to forever live the hunter life and have no desires outside of it, so I'm not as upset as others about him wanting to quit again. I just need a decent explanation for why didn't look for Dean and just accepted he was dead. Of course I don't trust the writers to give Sam a good IC reason for it.
