I feel like outside of the gay slurs, they really did a good job with that. And the slurs wasn't Edlund, that was apparently an improv from Jensen. :/
I didn't mind the Tinkerbell thing because SPN usually blends dark humor with the bleaker bits. I didn't even think they slacked on the bleaker bits - there was the rapey overtone with Oberon, with RoboSam assuming Dean was servicing him (and commenting on it) and even the whole changling subtext with RoboSam and oooh, it was good. If only the gay slur thing didn't fuck everything up for me and ruin the ep on rewatch!
It was a good episode that one extremely cringeworthy bit aside. And opened a wealth of good new canon to play with. It's not the fault of that one ep that the writers never went back to them. :(
