I work in a pretty open area with 6-7 people and we each have a desk but only a few have partitions. Go back to yesterday, late afternoon and one co-worker goes to ask another a question. When he gets to the desk and starts looking over some balances (left for his attention) and he completely fumbles the other dude's soda..spilling it all across the desk and it pours out. Since he's a nice guy he tries to stop it and pulls out the waste basket to catch it. Then (it gets interesting I promise) he finishes cleaning the desk and throws all the paper towels in the basket. The nice guy that he is even takes that full bag out - desk owner still isn't back upstairs yet - and underneath the bag, taped to the bottom is a ziplock baggie. Thinking it was old trash he reaches for it and to his surprise it's actually a huge wad of $100 bills. And cue desk owner finally showing up.( I'm two chairs down) He quietly snatches the baggie, grabs his coat and leaves not saying one word. The co-worker who spilled the drink walks trying to explain but gets completely ignored, all the way down stairs. When he comes back our manager is asking questions and freaking out, asking if we are missing money, we aren't. Today the managers both had voice mails from money man saying he quit. The strangest part? The guy supposedly had a house (the address on file) turns out it was an empty trailer.
Now no one knows how to reach him, his cell has full mail and no NOK info that we know. It's kind of creepy..
