I'm wondering if anyone has seen/knows of English fandubs/fansubs of the new Space Battleship Yamato live-action movie? Or even where to look? I'm not in any anime fandoms at all, so I don't even really know where the forums are :(
I have an unpaid account, and I'm trying to figure out how to set my security settings. I have one story with serious adult content, but the rest are PG-13. I put all my stories around a cut anyway, but do you think I need to set up my journal to warn for adult concepts?
I'm paranoid. I just set my journal for adult concepts as the default. In case I ever feel like discussing adult stuff, writing adult stuff, etc.
Hopefully some of you track this post...I have a question. My daughter is artistically talented and I'd love to get her started on using her computer to draw. She has art classes in high school, but none teaching computer art.
What equipment and software does she need? Is it going to cost me a fortune?
Thanks!

It depends on what you want to do. I don't know much about equipment and software, but there is FREE software here: http://www.gimp.org/ I highly recommend it.
Here you can find lots of tutorials: http://www.gimp-tutorials.com/

I don't have mine set at all. All of my stories have ratings and anything else just feels like censorship. I was one of those very upset with the settings when LJ first released them. *shrugs*
This is where I'll post my episode reactions for Firefly so that I don't annoy tracking!nonnies on the main page.
And I guess I'll keep posting for as long as anyone is interested.
FEEL FREE TO ORGANIZE THE REWATCHING THING HERE. OR I DUNNO. LET YOUR NOSTALGIA RUN WILD OR WHATEVER? OR TEACH ME YOUR BROWNCOAT WAYS. 8DDDD

I shall be watching episodes five and six tomorrow. Yes.

I feel that Firefly and SPN are natural crossover fodder. They have so many things in common! MANY OF THOSE THINGS ARE THIGH HOLSTERS.
(Others are incest ships, bar brawling, and a love of engines.)
You've inspired me to rewatch, n00b!nonnie! I watched through 'Shindig' before I went to bed, whereupon I collapsed in a puddle of sheer, unadulterated Kaylee ♥ ♥ ♥
So today, 'Safe' and 'Our Mrs Reynolds'? YAY BOOBIES!! (you'll see what I mean)

I'm trying out a new, old show, a British series called Urban Gothic. I think it ran sometime in the early 2000s. Anyone heard of it, have any feedback (I'm only 2 min into my first episode)?
I'm not from the UK but I think I remember it. Wasn't it a little horror movie each episode?
ayrt Yep. Episodes are only half an hour long a piece, with tiny budgets, by the look of them. Kinda fun, though. A little gory for TV.
Okay, so does anyone know what the hell is up with Tinypic, why its search function takes me straight to the oh so sucky Photobucket? If I wanted to search Photobucket, I'd fucking search Photobucket!
But Photobucket--and its "policies"--suck, so I don't. But now I can't actually search TinyPic.
Tl;dr, why don't these fucking corporations understand that I don't really WANT a fucking circle jerk of a mega-conglomeration?

Throwing this out into the wind so it's out of me and somewhere else. Just feeling like my life is spiraling out of control and I'm just along for the ride. Just wanted to bug as few people as humanly possible with it. Maybe I'll just try and enjoy the ride and see where it ends up, sometimes you just can't control shit, huh?
Sorry you're having a tough time of it, nonnie.
Same here, oh god.
Do you have anyone you can talk to? Talking to friends or family helps so fucking much, it's worth it.

The free graphics program gimp (see above comment) is great! There's also Photoshop Elements, which is the cheaper version of Photoshop. You can buy PSE second hand on ebay etc., and it'll be much cheaper than buying PS CS5 would be.
There are books on how to use Photoshop, they should be available at your library (or you can buy some online).
As for classes, that depends on where you live. If you live somewhere with free education, sure, there's college level classes she can take after high school (a lot of those classes are online, so it doesn't interfere with work/other studies). Otherwise, she can probably pick it up herself reading books and practicing.
Googling "photoshop/drawing/etc. tutorial" will give you a lot of hits for sites she can check out, internet is great for free knowledge. :)

Uh, the most important part is a graphic tablet. To draw on!
They're expensive. :/

Wacom is the best brand.

Is the nonnie who I talked to about shipping K/S, a week or so ago, here?
I just read the most wonderful Kirk/Spock fic. That I think could even convert this nonnie. And I usually prefer pairing Jim with McCoy.
If anyone would like to read it - http://garryowen.dreamwidth.org/65971.html

Thanks, nonnie! That's useful information. The tablet is the thing I'm most at sea about, so it's good to know the best brand.
na
Wacom tablets ship with budget-edition graphics software -- either Photoshop Elements or Painter Classic, I don't recall. Look for second-hand or refurbished tablets (and verify that you're getting the software with them, if you're buying on e.g. eBay). You probably want to look at the Graphire line of tablets, not the higher-end Intuos -- the Graphire is perfectly usable, a manageable size for a teenager, and budget-friendly. And it comes in pretty colors.

It's the opposite for me, nonnie. It feels like I'm in control of my life but I have no idea where I'm going so I'm just hurtling towards a great damn cliff and I can't find the brakes.
Talk to people anon. It makes you feel good. I would, but I have noone. /emo whining

Basic level wacom tablets are just fine for anything from beginner to just below professional level. :) They work brilliantly.
Everyone have an awesome day!
